Rechtsstellung von gleichgeschlechtlichen Paaren im japanischen Familienrecht
Abstract
This article presents the current situation of same-sex couples in the eyes of private law. In particular it discusses the methods by which same-sex couples obtain legal recognition of their relationship despite a lack of permission to marry. One of these is to have their relationship recognized as analogous to a de facto marriage. The other is for one member of the couple to adopt the other. Finally, the article addresses legal challenges for same-sex couples wishing to raise a child legally as their joint offspring.
