Abstract
The article provides an introduction to the most important laws enacted during the 165th and 166th sessions of the Japanese Parliament. Following an introduction to the new Abe Government, it focuses on the significance and the provisions of the Law Concerning the Procedure for the Amendment of the Japanese Constitution. The article then touches on the Reform of the Education System and moves on to the Law Concerning Electronically Registered Obligations, the Trust Law, and amendments to the Copyright Law and to the Income Tax Law. It also treats the most important innovations concerning criminal law, namely the Anti-Money-Laundering Law. The introduction is accompanied by an overview of all laws passed during these sessions with their names in Japanese (kanji and rôma-ji) and their German and English translations.
