Abstract

The Japanese Consumption Tax has been applied to the digital economy in accordance with OECD rules since 1998. In 2015, the reverse-charge mechanism for B2B cross-border transactions of digital content was introduced, and in 2025, the platform taxation system for B2C digital content was implemented.
